What is the Cragg Vale Carbon Neutral Group?
The Cragg Vale Carbon Neutral Group is a group of Cragg residents who are concerned about climate change and are keen to do something locally to address this global issue. The CVCN first started meeting in November 2008 and currently has 22 members. It operates as a sub-group of the Cragg Vale Community Association

What is our aim?
The long term aim of the Cragg Vale Carbon Neutral (CVCN) group is to make the valley of Cragg Vale carbon neutral.

We hope to achieve this through a mixture of supporting people in the valley in taking individual actions to reduce their emissions and community-based efforts to develop renewable energy and carbon sinks.

How can I contact the group?
We always welcome new members.

We meet 2nd Monday of every month in the Robin Hood Inn on Cragg Road.

1010 campaign
10:10 is an ambitious project to unite every sector of British society behind one simple idea: that by working together we can achieve a 10% cut in the UK’s carbon emissions in 2010. CVCN is campaigning for individuals and organisations in Cragg to join the 1010 campaign and reduce their emissions by 10% in 2010. Here are some examples of what people in Cragg are doing.

Cragg Carbon emissions survey
CVCN has worked with the Centre for Climate Change Economics and Policy at the University of Leeds to estimate emissions from Cragg Vale and get advice on the most effective way to reduce these. Many thanks to the 45 Cragg households and businesses which filled in the “carbon questionnaire”.  You can down load the detailed report from the Cragg Carbon survey or read a summary here
